These experiences form the foundation of each child’s sense of self and their desire to learn. I believe it is very important in a learning community to have a deep respect for the child, their environment, and the families who take part in this learning experience. First and foremost, a child’s first school experience should be fun and wonderful.

I live here in Seal Beach with my husband, Kirk, who makes me laugh and our three children who always keep me on my toes. They are all living reminders of how important it is to be present. When I am not playing mom or teacher, I love surfing, playing with paint, reading a good book, faking percussion skills during our surf mom jam sessions, day dreaming about a clean house, playing tennis, and learning about teaching.

This is my first year as teacher /director at Seal Beach Playgroup. I spent my first six years at SBPG as a parent. I am very excited to return as a director to provide families with a wonderful and meaningful coop experience.

I have a B.A. in child development and a multiple subject teaching credential. After six years of teaching fifth grade in the San Marino Unified School district, I’ve decided to return to the roots of learning. I have also returned to school to explore how children learn during their early years. I have been inspired through my research, workshops, and teachers to offer a program that develops a child’s sense of wonder about their world. I will be present to scaffold their explorations and keep them reflecting on their learning.
