CO-OP LIFE

Is SBPG Right for Your Family?

A cooperative preschool is a unique experience. Our school depends on the time, energy and enthusiasm families bring to the classroom and community.

Participation requires more from parents than a traditional preschool, but the rewards are also greater. You have the opportunity to observe and support your child’s growth, take an active role in their first school experience and build meaningful relationships with other families. Along the way, parents gain a better understanding of child development, age-appropriate behavior and practical ways to support their children through each new stage.

The co-op model also creates a special kind of trust. As families work together and care for one another’s children, parents become more comfortable relying on each other, sharing experiences and offering support. That shared responsibility often leads to deeper connections, stronger friendships and a community where both children and parents feel known and cared for.

This page will help you understand the commitment involved so you can decide whether Seal Beach Playgroup is the right fit for your family.

More Than a Requirement

The co-op commitment is not simply a list of responsibilities. It gives families the opportunity to become part of their child’s preschool experience in a way that is difficult to find elsewhere.

The time families contribute is part of what makes Seal Beach Playgroup feel like more than a preschool. It creates a community where children and parents are known, supported and connected.

By participating in the classroom and school community, parents can:

  • Watch their child learn, grow and build friendships

  • Get to know their child’s teacher and classmates

  • Better understand their child’s development

  • Build friendships with other parents

  • Help create the joyful, supportive environment their child experiences each day

Does This Sound Like Your Family?

SBPG may be a wonderful fit for families who want to take an active role in their child’s education, value community and are able to make the time commitment required by a cooperative preschool.

We encourage prospective families to review the responsibilities carefully, ask questions and visit the school before applying.
