CO-OP LIFE
Parent
Participation
Parent participation is a meaningful part of the Seal Beach Playgroup experience. It helps create a close-knit, supportive school community where families work together and grow together.

What Participation Looks Like
Classroom Participation
Families participate in classroom days throughout the school year. We aim to keep participation to approximately 1–2 days per month for Junior Class families and 3–4 days per month for Senior Class families, though the exact number may vary depending on enrollment and class size.
Parent Jobs
Each family takes on a parent job that supports the school community and helps keep the co-op running smoothly. These roles vary based on the school’s needs and may include serving in a board position, creating the classroom schedule, making playdough or helping with events and fundraising.
Meetings &
School Care
Families attend parent meetings once a month, parent education, and help care for the school through scheduled cleanups and shared responsibilities.
Fundraising Support
Each family has an annual $650 fundraising commitment. These funds help cover costs beyond tuition, allowing SBPG to provide special experiences and resources while keeping the school affordable.
Why It Matters
When parents participate, children benefit. You have the opportunity to observe your child in the classroom, better understand child development and age-appropriate behavior, and celebrate their growth and milestones.
Participation also helps families build trust and connection with one another. By working together, sharing responsibilities and caring for one another’s children, parents often form deeper friendships that last beyond the preschool years.
