CO-OP LIFE
What is a
Co-Op Preschool?
A cooperative preschool is a school where families take an active role in creating their child’s early learning experience.
At Seal Beach Playgroup, parents work alongside our teacher, participate in the classroom and help support the school community. This shared involvement allows families to see their child learning in real time while building close relationships with other parents and children.
Because everyone contributes, the school becomes more than a place children attend. It becomes a community families help create together.

How it Works
Learn Together
Children learn through play, exploration, creativity and meaningful relationships with caring adults.
Participate Together
Parents assist in the classroom, take on a school responsibility and contribute to the activities that keep the co-op running.
Grow Together
Families gain a deeper understanding of child development while forming trust, friendships and a strong support system
Belong Together
Children and parents become part of a close-knit community where families support one another, share experiences and create lasting memories.

Parents Learn Here, Too
Being part of a co-op gives parents the opportunity to learn alongside their children.
Through classroom participation, parent education and conversations with our teacher and other families, parents gain a better understanding of age-appropriate development, behavior and practical ways to support their child through each new stage.
The co-op model also creates a special kind of trust. Families care for one another’s children, share responsibility and become comfortable relying on each other. That often leads to deeper connections and lasting friendships between parents.
